Barosi, a D2C food brand that makes local, healthy food, won the Most Sustainability Focused Startup award at last year’s challenge. “For a small startup like Barosi, Amazon’s recognition and support was very special and gave us confidence in what we are building,” he shares Durlabh Kumar Rawat, Founder, Barosi. “The Amazon team helped us prepare our deck and walked us through every step. Amazon Smbhav Entrepreneurship Challenge is a high potential platform for startups to accelerate their growth and create long-term impact at scale. It is a key culmination of Amazon Smbhav – a two-day mega-summit that will bring together policymakers, major industry leaders, solution providers, startups and Amazon executives to deliberate on areas most relevant to India’s growth.
The Amazon Smbhav Entrepreneurship Challenge 2022 sees startups pitching their companies to leaders of the Indian startup ecosystem for cash prizes, market link support, global exposure, exciting rewards and more. The winners will be announced at the planned Amazon Smbhav Mega Summit May 18 and 19, 2022.
Startups can win cash prizes, bonuses and more
The Amazon Smbhav Entrepreneurship Challenge 2022 is open to all Indian startups and offers the winning startup an opportunity to bag a cash prize of INR 40,000 and be crowned ‘Amazon Smbhav ’22 Startup of the Year’. First and second place winners will win cash prizes of INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 respectively. The winners are determined by a combination of customer votes and an interdisciplinary jury.
Apart from these overall winners, three Special Mention Awards will be presented in separate categories – for the startup with the most sustainability focus, the most promising female-led startup and the most promising consumer goods startup.
The top 25 startups receive access to mentoring, funding opportunities, market link support, global exposure, and other rewards. The top 250 startups can access networking opportunities, rewards from Amazon and partner organizations, and mentoring sessions designed to prepare them for pitch days. All Amazon Smbhav Entrepreneurship Challenge 2022 applicants will have access to AWS credits, developer support credits, Freshworks credits, and Amazon Global Selling Support, where applicable.
Promotion of Entrepreneurship in India
In its second edition, the Amazon Smbhav Entrepreneurship Challenge brings together government agencies, corporations, and ecosystem enablers to support and accelerate startup growth. The competition is run in partnership with the Department of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) and the NIF Incubation and Entrepreneurship Council (NIFientreC) from the public sector Industry leaders like Freshworks and Fireside Ventures. The aim is to reach founders across India and to promote grassroots innovations from the deepest corners of the country.

Amazon Smbhav began 2020 by bringing together keynote addresses, panels and workshops with industry leaders, policymakers and Amazon executives on areas most relevant to India’s growth. At the inaugural edition of Amazon Smbhav, Amazon pledged to digitize 10 million MSMEs by 2025, generate US$10 billion in cumulative exports from India and create 2 million jobs in India.
