All About The Hollywood Week Alumni Mentors

The Reality Singing Contest american idol has announced which alumni will serve as mentors for the season 20 contestants during Hollywood Week. ‘Cause Bobby Bones left the show american idol had to find new mentors to guide the contestants, and as the show celebrates its twentieth season, there was no better choice than finalists who found success on the show.

In the early seasons, famous singers and musicians from outside the show had offered their guidance to the contestants. However, over time, and american idol produced superstars, the show was able to invite members of the again idol family for advice. Former contestants including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert have mentored the contestants and shared their musical knowledge american idol experiences with great results.

The alumni have announced which genres they will be working with. Ruben Studard

Reuben won american idol Season 2 in 2003. Nicknamed “The Velvet Teddy Bear,” Ruben was known for his smooth singing and sweet personality. Since his time on the show, he has released seven studio albums, including the platinum-selling, soulful. Ruben was nominated for a 2003 Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his recording of the song “Superstar.” Ruben is also an actor who has appeared in episodes of TV shows like 8 simple rules. In 2008-2009 he led the tour of Is not wrongdoing starring as Fats Waller. The cast recording album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.


Ruben is the perfect mentor because he is both a teacher and a singer. He taught a master class in performing arts major at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in March 2022. In the fall of 2022 he will be teaching two music courses, one on the commercial side and one on the performing side of the music business. Ruben will be the mentor american idol Candidates in the R&B genre.

Jordan Sparks

Jordan won american idol Season 6 in 2007 at the age of 17. Her self-titled debut studio album went platinum and contained the hit singles “Tattoo” and “No Air”. her second album, battlefield, released in 2009, was also a triumph. Since then she has released two more studio albums, Right here, right now (2015) and Cider & Hennessy (2020). Jordin is also an accomplished Broadway actress and has appeared in in the heights and Waitress. In 2012 she starred in the film sparkle. Jordin was last seen on TV in 2021 when she placed fifth The Masked Dancer as “Exotic Bird” and later that year when she starred in the Hallmark Channel movie, A Christmas sweetheart.

In an Instagram post Jordan announced that she will be overseeing the pop genre. This is ideal for them and the contestants due to their tremendous success in this music category.

David Cook

In 2008 David won american idol Season 7 because of his incredible talent in transforming songs with his own unique style. Following his win, his debut single “The Time of My Life” went platinum. Later that year he released his self-titled album, which included the hit single “Light On.” Since then he has released two more albums and three EPs including The mirror in 2021. In 2018, David brought his impressive singing to the Broadway stage while playing the lead role Kinky boots. He will be touring this spring and summer presenting his music to live audiences.


David will be overseeing the rock genre which is the perfect place for him. He proved during his season that he can turn songs from all genres like Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” into rock anthems.

Lee De Wyze

Lee won american idol Season 9 in 2010. He published his first post-Idol album, act out, in 2010. He then released four more albums. He released his fifth album, ghost storiesin 2021 and his new single “Bridges” was released in March 2022. Lee will be touring in 2022.

Lee wrote that it was him “Super Excited” to announce that he will be overseeing the indie/folk genre. With his talent for playing acoustic guitar and his singer-songwriter voice, Lee is a great choice for this type of music.

Lauren Alena

Lauren was second american idol Season 10 in 2011, and her career has skyrocketed since then. Lauren has released her debut album wildflower in October 2011. It was the best-selling digital album by an up-and-coming country artist. In 2012, Lauren won the New Artist of the Year Award at the American Country Awards. In 2017 she released the album Road less traveled. On February 12, 2022, she was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry by Trisha Yearwood. She released her latest album, Sitting pretty on top of the world in 2021 and is currently headlining the Top of The World Tour.

Lauren will be the perfect mentor because she has proven time and time again that she not only has tremendous singing talent but also stamina. Lauren continued to compete Dancing with the stars Season 28 and is currently appearing on the extreme reality TV competition show, Beyond the Edge, in which she faces off against other celebrities in the brutal and dangerous jungles of Panama. Lauren has a lot of advice to give and she has published her book, Getting good at being yourself: Learning to love who God made you in 2021. Lauren said it was her “flip out” because she had the chance to return american idol and mentor of the country genre.

Hailey Reinhart

Haley took third place american idol Season 10 in 2011. Her debut album, Listen!, was released in 2012. Since then she has released three more albums. Haley has had a few television appearances, including her five-year starring role on the Netflix adult animated series. F like family, as the voice of 12-year-old William “Bill” Murphy. In 2020, Haley made her acting debut in the sci-fi superhero film. We can be heroeswhich was released on Netflix.

Haley will oversee the soul genre. She has proven to be a master of the genre and should be a great guide for them american idol participants in this category.

Chayce Beckham

Chayce is the newest american idol Winner who took home the 19th season first place crown in 2021. He has since released two hit singles, “23,” which he performed on the show, and “Can’t Do Without Me,” a duet with Canadian Lindsay Ell. Chayce released his new single “Tell Me Twice” in March 2022. He announced that this is the first of several new songs he will be releasing soon. Chayce is currently touring as the opening act for Jimmie Allen and will be appearing for Luke Combs on his Canadian tour this fall. Between these dates, Chayce has scheduled many solo concerts.
