CSquared and Société d’Infrastructures Numériques (SIN), a Togolese state-owned telecommunications assets company, recently established the CSquared Woezon joint venture to provide the Togolese community with enhanced digital infrastructure and connectivity.
The project enabled CSquared Woezon to land the Equiano cable earlier this month by building a branch in Togo that will provide up to one terabit per second capacity between Portugal and South Africa. Pioneer Consulting has provided CSquared Woezon with general underwater consulting services, initially focusing on the design, procurement and implementation of the system’s cable landing station and transmission equipment. Pioneer Consulting is also assisting CSquared Woezon in developing the necessary land-based infrastructure required to land Google’s Equiano cable, such as: B. the beach shaft, the outdoor area and the return transport to Lomé. Having worked on recent projects with other West African countries, Pioneer Consulting brings regional insight as well as decades of experience in the implementation of all phases of submarine cable projects.
Pioneer played a crucial role in bridging the technical and commercial needs and telecom operational capabilities of CSquared and SIN’s national interests to ensure both parties can advance their mission to improve Togo’s digital infrastructure.
“It is an honor to work with CSquared and SIN on this important project,” said Gavin Tully, Managing Partner at Pioneer Consulting. “This is more than just another consulting engagement for Pioneer. CSquared Woezon is accelerating the growth of telecommunications in Togo, bringing benefits to the entire country. Pioneer is excited to play a role in diversifying its connectivity.”
“We are very pleased to have Pioneer Consulting on board this pivotal endeavor,” said Lanre Kolade of CSquared. “We selected them for their international technical staff and rich experience in submarine cable implementation from procurement to completion. We have already benefited from their strategic insights and look forward to working with Pioneer on this project.”
Expected to be completed in 2022, this new branch of Google’s Equiano cable is the newest and most advanced subsea fiber optic cable to connect to Togo and will bring with it a connectivity diversity that will help implement the Togo Digital 2025 strategy.
