London [UK], April 16 (ANI/PNN): A unique three-week online course focused on designing entertainment venues in the metaverse has been launched for design students. The Design Futures Foundation (DFF), USA, in collaboration with Dezact, UK and Avani Institute of Design, India, has launched the online course entitled “MetaPlay” to explore the potential and feasibility of new technologies such as parametric design and Promote modeling tools as well as augmented reality/virtual reality tools. This unique global online course is to be organized in three phases over three weeks. MetaPlay aims to be a micro-design studio that equips participants with actionable digital and parametric modeling skills and introduces them to the game engines and CGI tools in the AEC industry.
At MetaPlay, participants learn practical skills for building digital worlds directly from industry experts. The list of faculty includes names such as Akshay Goyal (founder of Tron Labs and partner in Architron Group), Ping-Hsiang Chen (senior architect at Zaha Hadid Architects), Vineeth TK (teacher at Avani Institute of Design), Cherylene M. Shangpliang ( Designer at Zaha Hadid Architects, London), Zehao Qin (Design Systems Analyst in the Applied Research + Development (ARD) group at Foster + Partners, London). Additionally, by the end of the 6-day workshop, students are expected to design and build architectural-scale projects in a virtual environment. The final judging and exhibition work takes place on the closing day and consists of experts such as Mayur Mistry, Richard Chou, Saenawee Chatameteewong and Amit Gupta. Students from multiple countries are scheduled to participate in this global design workshop, and by attending the course, students will not only get a behind-the-scenes look at how to create entertainment venues for metaverse and crypto futures, but will also become metaverse designers certified.
Akshay Goyal, the co-founder of the Design Future Foundation (DFF) and Dezact, speaks about this unique workshop: “It is an absolute honor for us to curate this global workshop in partnership with the Avani Design Institute. In the post-pandemic world, the Web 3.0 revolution has sparked immense interest in smart contracts, virtual metaverse platforms, and all things NFT. Virtual worlds like Decentraland and Sanbox have seen a surge of activity, and Metaversum has emerged as a disruptive technological trend that aims to transform our future by impacting the way we live, work and play. Over the next decade, people will seek increasingly immersive virtual experiences, pushing consumers and brands into the metaverse. In such a scenario, the MetaPlay course anticipates a game-changer in enabling experiences for the virtual designers and developers of this future.”
Ping-Hsiang Chen, director and co-founder of Dezact London said: “Covid19 has catalyzed the process of metaverse adaptation. As it presented the world with unprecedented operational challenges, the world embraced many cultural shifts faster than expected, and Metaverse is one of them. As a result, multiple tech giants around the world are now in the process of building Metaverse for users. In this framework, the MetaPlay course is a platform for next-generation digital architects and designers to learn the ins and outs of Metaverse from industry experts.” Vineeth TK, Faculty at Avani University, emphasized, “Avani Institute has been at the forefront of experimentation and international collaboration in the Indian context. The MetaPlay course has been launched with a similar spirit and will enable virtual designers, architects and developers alike to use the digital modeling tools.” and gaming industry workflows to educate themselves on the design of future virtual worlds. The course will enable participants to create an immersive digital environment that accommodates people in a shared virtual world.”
The Design Future Foundation (DFF) is a non-profit organization that believes in the potential of design to solve global problems and create massive impact in our rapidly changing world. The DFF works at the intersection of design and new technologies, collaborating with organisations, academia and professionals to study the impact of design beyond its limits. DEZACT is a London-based organization set up to speculate and investigate the changing ways in which urban space is conceived, produced and used in the post-digital age. It works at the disciplinary interface of art, architecture, new media and urban studies. It brings together artists, designers and educators to engage in a forward-looking debate on the place of technology in art, architecture and culture. Now, DFF has partnered with Dezact, UK and Avani Institute of Design, India, to help developers and architects journey into the Metaverse of the future.
